Majoring in Fine Art (Painting) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Baet has represented Singapore in several international symposiums, and has won the prestigious Grand Prize of the UOB Painting of the year in 1987. He was also the President of Modern Art Society Singapore from 2003 and 2004. Many of his works are on public display, in venues like the National Library Board and Changi Airport Terminal 3, to name a few. Baet likes to work in solitude. To the artist, solitude is a way of confronting the confused environment that modern man is in, which is one of incomprehension. In this work, the artist has aligned a number of associative images on the canvas, in order to bring about a new way of seeing.
